SART Partner Members
The Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) of St. Joseph County is a group of key stakeholders in St. Joseph County that collaborate as a multi-disciplinary team to strengthen systemic policies and practices, meet victim needs, promote victim healing, reduce the prevalence of sexual violence in our community, and hold perpetrators accountable for their actions.
SART Partner members include representatives from local advocacy and social service agencies, law enforcement, prosecutors, universities and colleges, and medical providers.
Law Enforcement and Prosecution
Police Departments

St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office
The primary function of the St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office is to prosecute individuals charged with committing crimes in St. Joseph County. Law enforcement agencies investigate crimes and turn the results of their investigations over to the Prosecutor’s office. If sufficient evidence exists to prove that an identified suspect committed the crime, their office charges the suspect and prosecutes the case. If a defendant is convicted of committing the crime, they will be sentenced by a judge.
In addition to prosecuting criminal offenses, this office assists custodial parents with child support collection, and assists crime victims with finding resources to help them rebuild their lives. The team in this office includes deputy prosecuting attorneys, paralegals, investigators, child support caseworkers, victim advocates, and support staff.
Special Victims’ Unit
The SVU is a specialized unit of the Prosecutor’s Office, committed to investigating and prosecuting cases of sexual assault and child abuse. The unit consists of:

The SVU is located in the same building with the Family Justice Center of St. Joseph County and the CASIE Center, in order to work coordinate efforts to support survivors and their families.
Medical Providers
Forensic Department of Saint Joseph Health System
The Forensic Department of Saint Joseph Health System provides medical and forensic examinations and resources to anyone who is a possible victim of any of the following:
Adult/Pediatric Sexual Assault; Domestic Violence; Strangulation; Child Abuse/Neglect; Elder Abuse/Neglect; Human Trafficking; General Assault; Animal Bites; Gunshot Wounds; Stabbings; Burns; Accidental Ingestion in Pediatrics; Adult overdose if a minor was present; Intentional Pediatric overdoses; Suicidal Ideation in minors if DCS needs to be involved.
Anyone may access these services with no referral needed. Walk-ins are welcome. They are are open 24/7.
Please come in through the emergency department at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka or Plymouth. Register as a patient with the registration staff and let them know you would like to speak with a Forensic Nurse.
For incidents that occurred more than 72 hours for pediatrics or 120 hours for adults ago, appointments can be set by calling the Forensic Department directly at 574-335-2532.

HealthLinc - Centennial
HealthLinc - Centennial offers primary healthcare for all ages (newborn and up). Other services include:
HEP C / HIV Treatment; Behavioral Health; Dental; Vision; Pharmacy Services; Chronic Disease Management; Community Research; Medicare / Medicaid Enrollment Services
Anyone can access these services with no restrictions. They accept Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial Insurance Carriers. They offer a sliding fee for those who are uninsured or underinsured. To access these services, call 574-400-4550 or 888-580-1060 to schedule an appointment as a new patient.
Colleges & Universities
IUSB
Indiana University is committed to preventing and responding promptly to all forms of sexual misconduct, including sexual harassment, sexual assault and all forms of sexual violence, stalking, sexual exploitation, and dating and domestic violence. Indiana University provides support and consultation to all students, faculty and staff who are impacted by Sexual Violence.
Access to services can be coordinated by the campus Deputy Title IX Coordinator or the student independently. If you disclose you are in need of services to a responsible employee on campus, they are required to report that to the Deputy Title IX Coordinator to ensure you receive resource options and assistance.
Responsible Employees include all supervisors, all employees that interact directly with students, and all employees that students might reasonably believe have authority to take action or a duty to report.
Holy Cross College
Holy Cross College offers counseling services for admitted students.

University of Notre Dame
The Office of Institutional Equity houses Title IX, and provides support, resources, and options for those experiencing discriminatory harassment, including sexual harassment, related to the Notre Dame Community. Anyone who is part of that community or involved in a University discriminatory harassment process can access these services. Receiving services from the office involves meeting with a Title IX staff member to access interim/supportive measures and to understand options, processes, referrals, and resources.

Saint Mary’s College
The Belles Against Violence Office (BAVO) is housed under the Office of Student Involvement and Advocacy at Saint Mary’s College. BAVO provides confidential support and advocacy to primary and secondary survivors of interpersonal violence. BAVO services students only but provides education and training to all students, staff, and faculty. Services include counseling, coordination of academic, housing, and mental health support, and support during medical care and the Title IX and Law Enforcement processes. Students can receive services by walking into the BAVO office, through a referral, or by contacting the BAVO Coordinator to schedule an appointment.
Bethel University
Bethel University’s Title IX Coordinator supports students seeking information or wanting to report sexual harassment/sexual misconduct (including sexual assault), dating violence, domestic violence, or stalking.
